DiFrancesco Leads Marist Women To Second Place Finish At UAlbany Invitational

ALBANY, N.Y. - Led by a sixth-place finish by sophomore Addie DiFrancesco (Waterbury, Conn.), the Marist women's cross country team finished second out of 24 teams at the UAlbany Invitational on Saturday. The Red Foxes' 109 points put them 21 points behind Middlebury for the team title. DiFrancesco finished sixth overall, covering the 5K course in a time of 17:56.9. Her time is the second-fastest in program history. Marist had seven runners finish with times under 19 minutes and 15 runners finish in less than 20 minutes, both program records. The Red Foxes top-five average time of 18:24.1 was the fastest in team history. Sophomore Kathryn Sheehan (Wading River, N.Y.) finished in 17th place in a time of 18:21. Brittany Burns (Watertown, N.Y.) ran a time of 18:25 and placed 23rd. Freshman Katie Messina (Queensbury, N.Y.) ran the 5K course in 18:35.8, finishing in 29th place. Erin O'Reilly (East Patchogue, N.Y.) rounded out Marist's scoring pack, placing 34th overall in a time of 18:41.7. Freshman Laura Lindsley (Bristol, Conn.) was the Red Foxes' top finisher in the junior varsity race, finishing third in a time of 19:22.6. Sarah Parsloe (Farmingville, N.Y.) also had a top-ten finish, placing ninth in 19:38.1. Marist will next compete at the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, Oct. 30.
