2009 Marist Volleyball Schedule
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Department of Athletics announced the 2009 volleyball schedule on Thursday. The Red Foxes will play 29 regular-season matches and will play in three in-season tournaments, including hosting the Volley In The Valley tournament at the McCann Center September 5-6. Marist will play its first home match of the season on Saturday, September 5 at 12:30 p.m. against Bucknell as part of Volley In The Valley, and will also take on Providence and Bryant as part of the tournament. The Red Foxes will open the 2009 season in Toledo, Ohio for the Staybridge Suites Rocket Classic at the University of Toledo August 28 and 29. Marist will play Kennesaw State on the 28th at 5 p.m. and will play the host Toledo and Bryant the following day. The Red Foxes will also play in the Columbia Invitational September 11 and 12. There, Marist will take on Columbia, Stony Brook, and Quinnipiac. Marist opens the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference season with three straight matches at home. The Red Foxes take on Saint Peter's on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m., followed by a match against Loyola the next day. The homestand closes with a match against Fairfield on September 25 at 7 p.m. Following three straight road matches at defending MAAC champions Siena, Canisius, and Niagara, the Red Foxes will play three of their next four matches at the McCann Center. Marist will host Manhattan for a rare Friday night match on October 9 at 7 p.m. After going to Iona on October 11, the Red Foxes will take on Siena and Rider on the 17th and 18th at the McCann Center. After another three-game road trip, Marist will wrap up its home slate with three straight matches against Iona on November 1, Niagara on November 7, and Canisius on November 8. The Red Foxes close the regular season with matches at Fairfield and Rider on November 14 and 15. The 2009 MAAC Volleyball Championships will be held at the Koessler Athletic Center on the campus of Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. November 21 and 22.
