Women's Track Wraps Up Competition At MAAC Championships

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Marist women's outdoor track and field team completed competition at the 2009 MAAC Championships on Sunday at Rider University. The Red Foxes received a pair of top-three finishes from freshman Addie DiFrancesco (Waterbury, Conn.) and junior Justine Colabraro (Chatham, N.J.). Colabraro placed second in the pole vault, clearing 2.3 meters. DiFrancesco took third in the 5K with a time of 17:39.93. The Red Foxes also received a third-place finish from their 400-meter relay team of senior Jen McNamara (North Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Kimberly Ladouceur (Kings Park, N.Y.), senior Kerry Owen (Garden City, N.Y.) and junior Holly Burns (Stafford, Conn.), who finished their race in 51.11 seconds. Burns also placed fourth in the 400 meters in a time of 1:01.49 and seventh in the 200 in a time of 27.20. She was one of three Red Foxes to score in the 400, with the others being sophomore Hayley Harnett (Boonsboro, Md.), who finished sixth in 1:02.85, and senior Christina Burke (Leonia, N.J.) , who was eighth in 1:03.36. The Red Foxes' 1,600 relay of sophomore Jillian Corley (London, N.H.), freshman Kelley Hanifin (Long Valley, N.J.), Harnett and sophomore Julie Hudak (Pearl River, N.Y.) took sixth in a time of 4:16.93. Marist had a pair of scorers in the 400 hurdles in freshman Lauren Schultz (Waldwick, N.J.) and sophomore Kate Gernert (Brookfield, Conn.), who were sixth in 1:12.44 and seventh in 1:13.06, respectively. In the 800, Corley took seventh in 2:24.83, and freshman Kara Lightowler (Orange, Conn.) was eighth in 2:25.08.
McNamara placed seventh in the 100 hurdles in 16.46, and freshman Brooke Kristensen (Mahwah, N.J.) was eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.91 meters. As a team, the Red Foxes placed fifth out of six with a total of 74 points. Manhattan won the championship with 215 points. |
