LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - On the first day of the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Rider University, Marist freshman Kathryn Sheehan (Wading River, N.Y.) won the 10K with a time of 38:05.66. It was the first time Sheehan had ever competed at that distance at the collegiate level.

Junior Brittany Burns (Watertown, N.Y.) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:18.17.

The Red Foxes also received scoring performances from sophomore Sarah Parsloe (Farmingville, N.Y.), junior Sarah Keating (Katonah, N.Y.) and freshman Brooke Kristensen (Mahwah, N.J.). Parsloe placed seventh in the 10K with a time of 40:27.61, Keating was fifth in the steeplechase at 11:31.41, and Kristensen was eighth in Flight 1 of the long jump at 4.3 meters.

As a team, the Red Foxes collected 25 points and stand in fourth place at the championships. Rider is in first with 59.

The MAAC Championships will conclude on Sunday.
