New Brunswick, N.J. - The Marist women's swimming/diving squad opened the 2004-05 season this weekend at the Sonny Werblin Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University. Junior Meghan Duffy won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and qualified for the ECAC Championships on the 1-meter platform.

Duffy's winning 1-meter score of 231.10 was sufficient to qualify her for the ECAC Championships, which will be held in Pittsburgh Feb. 25-27. She also took first place on the 3-meter platform with her 222.75 mark.

Sophomore Lauren Malski placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:06.39 and also took fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.82). Freshman Jamie Falco finished fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.72) and sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:11.76).

The Red Foxes open the dual meet portion of their schedule Thursday, Oct. 28 at non-conference opponent Fordham. The meet will begin at 7 p.m.
