Red Foxes Have Three Named To Bash At The Beach All-Tournament Team
March 21, 2006 POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Softball squad had three members named to the Mizuno Bash At The Beach All-Tournament Team it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Megan Rigos (Pittsburgh, Pa.) as well as seniors Katie Eskin (Edison, N.Y.) and Chrystine McHugh (Port Ewen, N.Y.) were honored as the Red Foxes went 4-1 over the three day tournament, finishing second behind Providence. Rigos went a perfect 3-0 on the mound and posted a skinny 0.41 earned run average in four appearances. In three starts she wheeled three complete games, including one shutout in 22.0 innings pitched. Rigos gave up five runs over that span and opponents hit just .120 against the left hander. In addition, Rigos spun a no hitter in a 2-1 win over Delaware on the final day of the tournament. Eskin went a solid 7-16 at the plate for Marist in the tournament, which was good enough for a .438 average. The senior slugged a triple, scored three runs and drove in another pair. McHugh also played a big role for Marist in its 4-1 weekend. She hit .412 as she went 7-17 in five games. McHugh picked up two doubles, hit her second homerun of the season, drove in two runs and scored six for the Red Foxes. After picking up two wins against Morgan St. and then going 4-1 in the tournament, Marist has rebounded from a 1-4 start as it stands at 7-5 on the season. The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Columbia for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
