Men's Cross Country Ranked 11th In Northeast Region

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist College men's cross country team was ranked 11th in the Northeast Region in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, which was released Monday. The Red Foxes are coming off a second-place finish at the MAAC Championships, which were held Friday, Oct. 30 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Marist trailed only nationally-ranked Iona College, which won the meet for the 19th consecutive time. Iona was the top-ranked team in the Northeast Region in the USTFCCCA Poll. It was the fifth consecutive year, and seventh time overall, that Marist has been runner-up to Iona at the MAAC Championships. Ranked ahead of Marist in the Northeast Region were No. 1 Iona, the MAAC champions; No. 2 Syracuse, the Big East champions; No. 3 Providence; No. 4 Columbia, the Ivy League champions; No. 5 Dartmouth, No. 6 Cornell, No. 7, UMass, the Atlantic 10 runner-up; No. 8 Brown, No. 9 Binghamton, the America East champions, and No. 10 Harvard. Other ranked teams included: No. 12 New Hampshire, No. 13 Yale, No. 14 Stony Brook and No. 15 Army. The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships, to be held at Franklin Park in Boston.
