EDISON, N.J. - The Marist men's and women's cross country teams combined to have 26 runners selected to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. The women's team had 16 selections which led the MAAC, while the men's 10 selections tied Siena for tops in the conference. Both the men's and women's cross country teams finished second at the MAAC Cross Country Championships held on Friday.

Brittany Burns (Watertown, N.Y./Psychology-Special Ed.), Jillian Corley (New London, N.H./Environmental Science), Briana Crowe (Bayville, N.J./Athletic Training), Addie DiFrancesco (Waterbury, Conn./Communications), Shannon Farrell (Warwick, N.Y./Communications), Kelley Hanifin (Long Valley, N.J./Business), Julie Hudak (Pearl River, N.Y./Biology), Sarah Keating (Katonah, N.Y./Communications), Meaghan Lass (Shutesbury, Mass./Fashion), Kara Lightowler (Orange, Conn./Psychology), Dayna McLaughlin (Stony Point, N.Y./Communications), Allyson O'Brien (Manlius, N.Y./Communication Arts), Sarah Parsloe (Farmingville, N.Y./Communications), Lauren Pica (Matawan, N.J./Marketing), Kathryn Sheehan (Wading River, N.Y./Psychology-Special Ed.), and Katie Topalian (Camp Hill, Pa./Fashion Design) were all selected on the women's side.

 

 

On the men's side, Ryan Brown (Monroe Township, N.J./Info. Technology & Systems), William Griffin (Columbia, Conn./English), Matthew Janczyk (Bristol, Conn./Biomedical Sciences), Colin Johnson (Clark, N.J./Communications), Greg Masto (Schenectady, N.Y./Communications), Sam McMullen (Newton, N.J./Athletic Training), Luke Shane (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Communications), Zachary Smetana (Niskayuna, N.Y./Business), Brian Townsend (East Setauket, N.Y./History - Adolescent Ed.), and Nick Webster (Latham, N.Y./Business) were all selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

The Marist cross country teams will next compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
