POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Behind two 6-2, 6-1 victories from sophomore Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) and freshman Matt Himmelsbach (Longmeadow, Mass.) at fourth and sixth singles respectively, the Marist men's tennis team defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 7-0. Marist also swept the doubles point in the victory, winning all nine matches contested.

Himmelsbach has won his last six matches after today's victory over Anthony Tunnero. During the stretch the freshman defeated a nationally ranked opponent, in Fairfield's Chip Palumbo, who is ranked 106th in the nation.

Junior Loic Sessagesimi (Blonay, Switzerland) also won his fifth consecutive match on Thursday evening. He defeated Carl Lundquist at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. He has not surrendered a game in two of his last three matches, winning both in straight sets at love.

Four other Red Foxes found their ways back into the win column. Junior Christian Coley (Glastonbury, Conn.) defeated Steve Erickson at first singles, 7-6 (2), 6-3. Sophomore Nicolas Pisecky (Lausanne, Switzerland) cruised past Cosmin Chiujdea, 6-1, 6-1. Von Nordheim prevailed over Dan Salomon at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-1, and sophomore Landon Greene (Palos Verde, Calif.) got by Dimitri Athens, 6-2, 6-4.

The Red Foxes will return to action on Monday, April 13 when they host Hartford in a dual match. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
