Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist College Director of Swimming Larry VanWagner has announced the signing of Matthew Geloso (Seymour, CT) and Wesley Gardner (West Bridgewater, MA) to National Letters of Intent, to join the Red Foxes Class of 2007. VanWagner has now received five NLI's for incoming freshmen for the men's swimming and diving team.

"I am excited to add both Matthew and Wesley to our squad for the next four years," VanWagner said. "They both have the potential to contribute to the continued success of our program."

Geloso, a senior at Seymour High School, swims for the Amity Regional Aquatic team year round, a member of United States Swimming. A middle distance freestyler, Geloso, was named the 2003 NVL Outstanding Swimmer of the Year. He earned Connecticut All-State honors in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyles, as well, his senior season. In each of the last three seasons at Amity, Geloso also earned All-NVL honors. He also excelled in the classroom during high school, earning High Honors in each of his four high school years.

Gardner is currently completing his senior year at Xaverian Brothers Academy, while competing with the Adirondack Aquatic Club. As a senior, Gardner was named a Catholic Conference All-Star, as well as earning Neponset Valley All-Star accolades. A middle distance freestyler, Gardner was the Middleboro YMCA Sea Devils MVP in the 200 and 500-yard freestyles. Gardner is also successful in the classroom, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

The Marist College men's swimming and diving team has been a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) since the fall of 1995. in that time the Red Foxes are 45-0 in dual meet competition against MAAC schools, and have won each of the eight MAAC Championships in which they have competed. Marist swimming and diving has won 10 overall conference championships in 24 years of competition, including the last nine straight (1995 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming Conference).
