POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Department of Athletics began the Quadricentennial Poughkeepsie Regatta Friday night with a barbecue for the competitors at Longview Park, the home to Marist's historic Cornell Boathouse. In addition to the rowers, Marist College welcomed Noel de Cordova Jr., Michael de Cordova and Edward vk Cunningham Jr., to the event.

The trio runs the Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust. Noel de Cordova Jr. serves as the president, while Michael de Cordova and Cunningham are trustees of the trust. The trust gave a grant for Saturday's Quadricentennial Poughkeepsie Regatta, and the de Cordova's and Cunningham were each presented with a plaque to commemorate the event.

"We are extremely grateful for the leadership of the Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust" Marist College President Dr. Dennis J. Murray said. "Buzz de Cordova and his son Michael de Cordova have carried on the traditions of the Nuhn family with their philanthropy in this area."

The Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust was founded to carry on the legacy of Ms. Nuhn of benefiting local charitable organizations. Since 1987 the trust has provided over $6 million in grants to non-profit organizations in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

The Quadricentennial Poughkeepsie Regatta will consist of three races - the women's eight, the lightweight men's and heavyweight men's. The first race is slated to begin at 9 a.m., on Saturday morning.
