2008-09 Schedule

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department released the men's basketball team's 2008-09 schedule in its entirety on Thursday. The Red Foxes will play a total of 31 regular-season games, the highest amount in program history. Marist's Jan. 23 home game against Canisius will air on ESPNU.

First-year head coach Chuck Martin will be on the bench for his first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Friday, Dec. 5, when the Red Foxes host Iona at the McCann Center. Four days later, Marist will take on defending MAAC champion Siena at the Times Union Center in Albany.

The MAAC portion of the schedule resumes after New Year's, when the Red Foxes host Saint Peter's on Friday, Jan. 2. Following back-to-back road games at Rider (Jan. 4) and Manhattan (Jan. 9), the Red Foxes will have two straight home games at the McCann Center against Niagara (Jan. 11) and Siena (Jan. 15).

The following week, Marist will match up with Loyola twice in an eight-day span, as the Red Foxes and Greyhounds will meet in Baltimore on Sunday, Jan. 18, and then in Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Jan. 25. In-between the contests against Loyola is an ESPNU contest against Canisius on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the McCann Center.

The Red Foxes close out January with a road game against Fairfield on Jan. 30. On Monday, Feb. 2, Marist will host Manhattan in a MAAC TV game. Following a game at Iona on Feb. 7, the Red Foxes will have home games against Rider (Feb. 9) and Fairfield (Feb. 12).

Marist's MAAC slate concludes with three road games. A Feb. 16 game at Saint Peter's will also be a MAAC TV game. The Red Foxes will wrap up the regular season in the Buffalo area, as Marist will face Canisius on Feb. 27 and Niagara in the regular-season finale on March 1.

The 2009 MAAC Tournament will be played at the Times Union Center in Albany from March 6-9.
