Brady Departs Marist, Takes Over As Head Men's Basketball Coach At James Madison
March 26, 2008
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray announced Wednesday that head men's basketball coach Matt Brady is leaving Marist to take the head coaching position at James Madison University. In his four seasons at Marist, Brady led the Red Foxes to a 73-50 record. The program also earned its first outright Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season championship and first postseason victory, both of which occurred in the 2006-07 season. "I would like to thank Matt for his hard work. Matt is an excellent basketball coach and I appreciate the job he did for us," Murray said. "I wish Matt and his family nothing but the best as they make their transition to James Madison University." Brady was named MAAC Coach of the Year in the 2006-07 campaign. That season, Marist won a program-record record 25 games, had the conference's player of the year in Jared Jordan and earned a 67-64 triumph at Oklahoma State in the first round of the postseason NIT. The Red Foxes have the MAAC's best record in conference play the last three seasons, going 37-17. Marist has also won at least 18 games each of the last three seasons. Brady came to Marist after spending 17 years as an assistant coach - two at Rhode Island, four at Wagner, and 11 at Saint Joseph's. A national search for Brady's successor will begin immediately.
