Dec. 13, 2007

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist department of athletics released the 2008 baseball schedule on Thursday. The Red Foxes, who are entering their third season under Head Coach Dennis Healy, will start their 54-game regular season on Feb. 22 at UC Santa Barbara.

"We'll be challenged early with our first 17 games on the road," Healy said. "That will prepare us for conference play. Our first three conference weekends are on the road, so we'll be tested early."

Marist will play 19 home games at McCann Baseball Field, starting with a Tuesday, March 25 contest against Fordham at 3 p.m. The Red Foxes will begin Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play the previous weekend, with a three-game series at Fairfield.

Following road series against Fairfield, Rider and Iona in successive weekends, Marist's first home MAAC series will come against Canisius on April 12-13. Four of the Red Foxes' final five conference series will come at home, concluding with a three-game set against Siena on May 15-16.

For the third consecutive year, Marist and Army will take part in the Hudson Valley Baseball Classic. The contest, which will be held at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m.
