Marist Baseball Welcomes Eight Newcomers

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Head Baseball Coach Dennis Healy announced the addition of eight players to the program on Monday. The class consists of five high school players and three transfers. "We are very fortunate these young men decided to continue their education at Marist," Healy said. "They are all very talented players and we look for them to help raise our level of play." Brian Klink is a talented right-handed pitcher from the Bridgton Academy in Maine who is recovering from an arm injury. Healy on Klink: "Brian brings a bulldog mentality to our pitching staff." Ryan Barnett is a right-handed pitcher who played scholastically at CBA in Albany, New York. Healy on Barnett: "We feel Ryan will benefit from our pitching system. His best days are in front of him." Chris Wojick, a transfer from Maine, is considered a high-quality right-handed pitcher by the staff. Healy on Wojick: "We are extremely excited about Chris. He is a super competitor and loves to win." B.J. Martin is a right-hander who comes to Marist after transferring from St. John's. Healy on Martin: "He has three pitches and they are all well above average. We are looking forward to running him out there on the weekends." Matthew Howard is an outfielder who attended La Salle College High School in Philadelphia. Healy on Howard: "Matt has a tremendous amount of potential, is a great runner and has a quality approach at the plate." Nick Amicucci is a versatile player who played his scholastic ball at Pleasantville High School. Healy on Amicucci: "Nick can play a bunch of different positions and has a chance to be a physical offensive player." Pat Sheehan is a middle infielder from Archbishop Molloy High School. Healy on Sheehan: "Pat brings versatility to our program. He enables us to move people around with his ability to play multiple positions."
Zach Starkey is a left-handed hitter who is transferring from Wabash Valley College. He can play the outfield and the infield. Healy on Starkey: "Zach comes off a season where he hit .470. We are extremely excited about watching him play every day." |
