Final Stats

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-The Northeastern baseball team registered one run in the seventh, eighth and ninth frames to hand Marist its fifth straight defeat by a score of 6-4 Monday afternoon at the McCann Baseball Field. Northeastern improved to 21-13 overall, while Marist dropped to 11-26.

 

Northeastern reliever Ryan Quigley (1-0) picked up the win, tossing three shutout innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Marist junior left hander Tom Close (1-4, Devon, Pa.) took the loss, hurling two-thirds of an inning and allowing one run and two hits.

 

The Huskies were led offensively by shortstop Mike Lyon, who had three hits, while left fielder Mike Tamasin had a pair of hits with three RBIs. Lyon and center fielder David Gustafson had scored two runs as well. Every Northeastern starter had at least one hit.

 

Marist was powered by two hits apiece by senior shortstop Matthew Lesyk (Abbottsford, British Columbia) and left fielder Brian McDonough (Hanover, Mass.).


 

 

 

The Red Foxes will be back in action Tuesday at Albany at 3 p.m.
